Mixed Media @ Haunch of Venison
Visited 2/3/2012
'An exhibition of contemporary sculpture including works by Rina Banerjee, Nathan Coley, Richard Long, Giuseppe Penone and Jaume Plensa'
An eclectic selection of sculpture, focussing on the wide variety of media used in contemporary sculpture. I was the only visitor despite it being the second day of the show.
Most notable was Alex Hoda's recent work Herzhell (Heart Bright). I was drawn to this due to the works relationship with automatism- forming shapes through dropping molten copper into water to form small shapes, which are scanned and in turn enlarged using digital technology. I found the pieces very compelling, almost visceral,  there was something very human about them despite their accidental nature and raw copper finish.
Certainly worth a quick visit. (Until 5th April 2012)
